Richard Dean Johnson

Richard Dean Johnson, 71, of Eagle Springs died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 17, 2016, at Pine Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Billy Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM at the church.

Born December 8, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri, Mr. Johnson was the son of Richard LaVerne and Dorothy Dean Johnson. He graduated from Newport News High School in 1964. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding with 41 years of service. He was a deacon at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Eagle Springs and also attended bible studies at Pleasant View Friends Church and Browns Chapel Christian Church. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Nancy Harrel Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Brewer Johnson of the home; daughter, Vawnetta Fishgrab of Denver, CO; son, Bill Johnson of Newport News, VA; sisters, Madelyn Crosby of Florida, Edith Arthur of Tennessee; brother, James Johnson of Virginia; and granddaughter, Marcia Fishgrab of Denver, CO.
