Robert James

Robert James, age 96, of Ether, passed away on October 28, 2024, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Mr. James was born on March 2, 1928, in Stokes County to Luz and Daisy Mabe James. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he worked in the hosiery mill as a mechanic until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Leatrice James, two sisters, and eight brothers.

He is survived by his daughter, Robin McNeill and husband, Wayne, of Seagrove; son, Terry James and wife, Susan, of Asheboro. Grandchildren, Christopher James, Chad James, wife Miranda; Andrew McNeill, wife Jessica, and Adam McNeill, wife Brittney; as well as six great granddaughters and three great grandsons.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Ether United Methodist Church at 3:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Ron Chaney officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:45 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Randolph County Honor Guard.
