Star - Roger Van McIntyre, 69, died Thursday, April 14, 2016, at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Sink officiating. Interment will be in Leach Cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm at the church.
Mr. McIntyre was born in Stanly County to Roy J. and Mantia Morton McIntyre. He graduated from West Montgomery High School, worked at Russell Hosiery Mill in maintenance until it closed, and was in the maintenance department at Montgomery Community College. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, followed by 20 years of service in the NC National Guard, and was a member of VFW Post #9881.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Greene McIntyre, of the home; three daughters, Beverly Lassiter (Brian) of Troy, Lisa Asbill (David) of Biscoe, Emily Tew (Rob) of Star; one son, David McIntyre of Star; two brothers, Wayne McIntyre of Asheboro, Derrill McIntyre of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Madeline and Matthew Lassiter, Alyssa and Ethan Asbill.
