Ruth Brewer Kennedy Star - Ruth Brewer Kennedy, age 81, of 2366 US 220 Alt N, died Friday, August 21, 2009, at her daughter's residence. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 23, 2009, at Dover Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Don Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. She was born in Scotland County to the late Willie J. and Glennie Davis Brewer. She was a retired bookkeeper at Pine Hosiery Mill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd W. "Pop" Kennedy; sister, Dorothy Auman; brothers, Thomas Brewer, Vernon Brewer, and Gurney Brewer. She was the loving mother to her daughters, Patrina Lambert and husband, David, of Candor, Glenda Cagle and husband, Ron, of Ether; son, Floyd W. Kennedy, Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Star; sisters, Betty Sue Garner of Robbins, Barbra Kennedy of Star, Marie Chriscoe of Seagrove, Geraldine Frye of Robbins; brother, Joe Brewer of Seagrove; grandchildren, Steven Lambert, Renee Duren, Tracy Lambert, Ron Cagle, Jr., Billy Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Will and Carly Kennedy. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star and other times at the home of Glenda and Ron Cagle, 2366 US 220 Alt N, Star.
