Star - Ruth Allen Williamson, 95, of Steeds community passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living in Candor, where she had resided since 2007.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 11:00 am at Asbury Baptist Church near Seagrove, where she was a member for 75 years, with the Rev. Wayne Bryson and Rev. Jimmy Upton officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 am - 10:45 am.

Mrs. Williamson was a native of Montgomery County, born in Star on November 9, 1920, the oldest of seven children to Cleve and Etta Monroe Allen. She graduated from Star High School. In 1940, she married Grady Lee Williamson. They were married 42 years until his death on May 13, 1982.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, and "Granny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook, sew, and garden. She was employed later in her life at Samarcand Manor State School for Girls from which she retired after 28 years of dedicated service.

Ruth enjoyed volunteering and received many awards as a member to the Star Halcyon Woman’s Club.

She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and neighbors.

She is survived by her daughter and husband, Sue W. and Richard Miller, of Greensboro; her son and wife, Grady and Mary Williamson, of Mooresville; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Cynthia M. and Tom Townes, Miller and Susannah Townes of Greensboro, Lee and Shea Williamson, Hadleigh Ruth and Leighton of Matthews, Richard Jr. and Stacy Miller, Alexander and Ben of Greensboro, Matt and Stephanie Williamson, Kennedy and McCrae of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Eric and Carrie Taylor and Pierson, Matt and Cristen Rusch, Parker and Emily of Mooresville.

Also surviving are her brother, J. D. Allen, of Asheboro, sisters, Inez Blake, Louise Giles, and Martha Morgan, all of Candor.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mae Williams (Newport News, VA) and Collen Boroughs (Seagrove).
