SARAH KELLY MONROE NALL
1922-2015
Kelly Nall of Eagle Springs, NC, formerly of Gastonia, died at her home on March 6, 2015.
She was born September 28, 1922, in Moore County, NC, daughter of the late Fannie Kelly and Oscar Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy Nall; son, Marshall Nall; sisters, Mary Ruth Nall and Rozella Brower; brothers, Frank Monroe and Eli Monroe.
Kelly is survived by her children, Louise Jimison (Kenneth), Herbert Nall (Betty), Hubert Nall (Juanita), daughter-in-law, Teresa Nall; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Hazel Pressley.
A life-long Presbyterian, Kelly attended Bensalem Presbyterian Church, Eagle Springs, for 44 years and West Avenue Presbyterian Church, Gastonia, for 48 years. She was a faithful member of both churches, and received the Presbyterian Women's Honorary Life Membership Award. She retired from Firestone Textiles.
Kelly was an honest, humble, loving woman who was devoted to God and family. She became known as "Granny" after her grandchildren arrived. Kelly was a talented seamstress and an excellent cook, and enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She was well known for her delicious cakes, especially pound cakes, and her "cocoa gravy." The beloved center and strength of a loving family, Kelly was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other family members.
A memorial service to celebrate Kelly's life will be held at Bensalem Presbyterian Church, Eagle Springs, on Saturday, March 14, at 2 pm, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Mark Carver. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends following the service.
