Sarah Inez (Terri) McCaskill Stafford, age 92, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Brookdale Senior Living in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Terri was born on September 30, 1926 in Candor, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late John Carl McCaskill and Belle Wooley McCaskill. Her grandfather was the first mayor of Candor. Later her father and nephew also served as Mayor of Candor.

After graduating from Candor High School, she attended East Carolina College in Greenville, North Carolina. For many years she worked with the State Pharmaceutical Board in Florida. Terri always loved traveling, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and the Cancer Society, and supporting her Florida Gators. She was active in her bridge club, Shriner activities and her church, Arlington Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Florida.

In 2017 she moved to Brookdale in Pinehurst to be near her nephew, Harlan McCaskill of Southern Pines, her niece and her husband, Wanda and Ollie Sweeney of Pinehurst, and her nephew and his wife, Jimmy and Marilyn McCaskill of Seven Lakes. Terri enjoyed visits from her great nephew, Jonathan McCaskill and his wife, Elaine. A highlight for Aunt Terri was reading to her great-great niece, Lynley and her great-great nephew, Brycen!

Terri enjoyed the activities at Brookdale, especially bingo and she also became a visiting member of Chapel in the Pines in Seven Lakes. Each Sunday she looked forward to attending the Chapel with her family.

Terri was preceded in death by her husbands, Bob Gillette, Larry Tyndall, and Garland Stafford. She is survived by one son, Bob Gillette (Helen) of Rainbow, California and numerous nieces and nephews. Per Terri's wishes there will be no service and burial will be in Jacksonville, Florida beside her late husband, Larry Tyndall. Her family thanks the staff at Brookdale and Hospice of First Health for their compassionate care of Aunt Terri.

Donations may be made to FirstHealth Hospice 150 Applecross Rd. Pinehurst, NC 28374 or to Chapel in the Pines 2125 Seven Lakes South West End, NC 27376. Phillips Funeral Home in Star, NC is assisting the family.
