Shellie Frances Taylor Owens

Candor - Mrs. Shellie Frances Owens, 82, of Sandy Ridge Assisted Living & Memory Care passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at FirstHealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 18, 2017, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Family and friends will be received in the fellowship hall following the service and committal.

Mrs. Owens was born in Montgomery County to Shelley B. and Ora Mae Cranford Taylor. She was retired from Pine Hosiery Mill and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she was the church pianist.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by infant son, Gary Mitchell; sisters, Hazel Cagle, Raymell Russell, Joyce Mills, Barbara Byerly; and brother, Wayne Taylor.

She is survived by her husband, Carl V. Owens, of Sandy Ridge; daughter, Kaye Buie (Ben) of Laurinburg; son, Ricky Strider, of Biscoe; grandchildren, Parks Buie (Mary Beth) of Apex, Susan Johnson (Scott) of Laurinburg, Mack Buie of Smithfield, and Brooke Hunter (Jace) of Seven Lakes; great-grandchildren, Paige Buie, Lena Buie, Taylor Johnson, baby Buie-Johnson, Langston Buie, and baby Hunter; sisters, Virginia Brown of Troy and Faye Dunn of Randleman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Sandy Ridge for the love and support given to their Mama and Grandmama (MeMaw).
