Timothy Tewy Kern

Asheboro - Timothy Tewy Kern, Jr., 73, of Old Cox Road, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Randolph Hospice House. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Southside Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jamie Sink officiating. Interment will be in Star Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Mr. Kern was born in Montgomery County to Tim and Irene Saunders Kern. He was a retired carpenter, an avid Duke and Yankees fan, and loved children, family, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Jackson Kern. He is survived by his daughters, Kim Epley of West End, Darlene Chappell of Candor, Tina Dunn of Troy; son, Timothy Kern III of Star; step-daughter, Teresa Yarboro of Florida; step-sons, Paul Yarboro of Colorado, Teddy Yarboro of Florida; sisters, Doris Welch of Greensboro, Sylvia Chavez of Capiton, NM, Terri Parsons of Star, Nell Daves of Greensboro, Judy McCreary of Lexington, Jeannie Black of Star; brother, Mickey Kern of Asheboro; 15 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, September 11, 2015, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
