Vera Lorena Harris Owens

Seagrove - Vera Lorena Harris Owens, age 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.

Mrs. Owens was born on December 30, 1926 in Montgomery County to Willie Alexander and Lillie (Hunsucker) Harris. She was a retired textile worker and a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Hayes, and three sisters, Inez Harris, Lottie Mabry, and Sally Moore.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann Sparks (David) of Asheboro, Barbara Auman (Michael) of Seagrove; sons, Gregory Alan Hayes (Maggie) of Randleman, Allen Owens (Kathy) of Thomasville; sister, Coleen Gibson (Lonnie) of Troy; brothers, Clayton Harris (Blanche) of Troy, Melvin Harris (Bessie) of Albemarle, Rayvon Harris (Evelyn) of Greensboro; grandchildren, Brianna Latham, Will Sparks, Benjamin "Will" Russell, Greg Hayes, John Hayes, Tristan Hayes; five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Friday, May 26, 2017, at Phillips Funeral Home in Star.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 26, 2017, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 869 Liberty Hill Church Road, Mt. Gilead, with the Rev. Dwight Mabry and Rev. Jerry Mabry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
