Verna Allen Hancock

Verna Mae Allen Hancock, age 85, of Robbins, passed away on December 20, 2024, at FirstHealth Hospice House.

Verna was born on January 12, 1939, in Moore County to James Curtis and Dorothy Sanders Allen. She dedicated many years to her work as a seamstress for a furniture manufacturer.  She also served Moore County Schools as a bus driver for the handicapped for 27 years before retiring at 78 years old. She was a member of Brown's Chapel Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Ray Hancock, brother Clint "Andy" Allen, sister Loretta Brewer and grandson Joie Hancock. 

She is survived by her fiancé of 20 years Romy Hall; son Tony Hancock (Jane) of Robbins, daughters Cindy Sheffield, (Jerry Morris) of Mt. Gilead, Kelly Auman of Robbins; and sister Janet Summerlin of Robbins. Grandchildren Chris Hancock (Robin), Mandy Hancock, Ashley Sheffield, Ben Sheffield, Casey Sheffield (Brittney), Dillon Stout, Dawson Evangelista and Christian Auman (Alyssa). As well as seventeen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Phillips Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 11:00 am at Brown's Chapel Christian Church with Pastor Shaun Garner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will be gathering at the home of Tony Hancock, 1260 Pine Grove Church Road, Robbins.
