Viola Williams Monroe, loving wife, mother and granny, 88, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 20, at Bensalem Presbyterian Church, 2891 Bensalem Church Road, Eagle Springs, where she was a member, with the Rev. Wes Brandon officiating. She was born in Moore County to James L. and Estella Williamson Williams. She retired after 31 years of teaching. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter W. Monroe, son and wife, Bert and Kathie Monroe; brothers, Arthur, James, and Fred Williams. Surviving are her sons, Ted Monroe and wife, Mary Jon, Randy Monroe and wife, Patrice, all of Eagle Springs; daughter, Nina and husband, David Long, of Holly Springs; brothers, Roy Colon (Virginia) Williams, Sr., Foster Lee Williams, Clinton Ray (Geraldine) Williams, Harold (Nellie) Williams, Winford (Ruby Ann) Williams; sisters, Treva (Hoyle) Smith, Liz (Joe) Pusser; sister-in-law, Geraldine B. Williams; 6 grandchildren, Evan (Erica) Monroe, Erin (Jennifer) Monroe, Drew Monroe, Claire Monroe, Katelyn & Callie Hennis; 4 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 19, at the residence, 5132 Big Oak Church Road. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Bensalem Presbyterian Church, PO Box 157, Eagle Springs, NC 27242.
