Seagrove - Waylon Brewer Davis, 72, of 1808 Chrisco Road West, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 4, 2013, at Union Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dr. Ron Chaney officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Davis was born in Montgomery County to Ira Spinks and Martha Elizabeth Brewer Davis. He was a retired fixer in textiles. He was a volunteer fireman with Westmoore VFD. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Grady Davis, Elbert Davis, Dennis Davis, Lewis Davis, Dalton Davis; sisters, Edith Allred, Loucendy Smith. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kennedy Davis, of the home; son, Michael Davis (Kristie), of Seagrove; daughters, Tammy Andrew, of Asheboro, Donna Spencer, of Asheboro, Cristie Thomas (Chris), of Carthage; brothers, Harvey Davis (Estelle) of Seagrove, Winford Davis (Sandy) of Star; sisters, Amy Hurley (Paul) of Troy. Lena Brown (Joe) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Ashley Spencer, Aaron Jamerson, Holly Davis, Matthew Spencer, Caleb Davis, and Ethan Thomas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 3, 2013, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westmoore VFD, 1211 Dover Church Road, Seagrove, NC 27341 or Union Grove Baptist Church, 7912 Union Grove Church Road, Seagrove, NC 27341.
