Biscoe - Waymond Travis Coker, 89, died Sunday, February 28, 2016, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Long Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Forest, Rev. Donald Coker, and David Fields officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Coker was born in Tennessee to George and Bertha Sewell Coker. He was a graduate of Biscoe High School, where he played basketball. He worked many years at Springs Inc. Aileen Plant and retired from Capel Incorporated.
He was an active member at his church, where he loved to sing and once was a member of a quartet, served as a prayer warrior, and above all loved God, family, and church.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie Lemons Coker, of the home; two daughters, Barbara C. Fields and husband, Wallace, of Biscoe, Vickie B. Deaton of Biscoe; son, Rev. Donald Coker and wife, Donna, of China Grove; brother, Gene Coker, of Biloxi, Mississippi; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
