Eagle Springs - William Domas "Bill" Brewer, 72, of Eagle Springs, passed away on August 30, 2012.
He was born in Newport News, Virginia, on September 14, 1939. He graduated from Newport News High School in 1957; the Norfolk College of William and Mary (now Old Dominion University) in 1962; and received an M.A. degree from the University of Virginia in 1968. He served four years in the United States Air Force, including sixteen months in Vietnam. He retired from the Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia, where he taught eighth grade English for 22 years.
He retired to a farm in Moore County, North Carolina, that goes back to a great-great grandfather. Interested in the history of the county, and that of his ancestors, he served for six years on the Board of the Moore County Historical Association, and was active with the Friends of the Bryant House.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron Domas Brewer and Foy Deaton Brewer, both originally from Moore County; and is survived by two sisters, Carol Johnson of Eagle Springs, NC, and Barbara Dowaliby of Norfolk, Va.
Burial will be private at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Moore County.
