William Ralph Smith

William Ralph Smith, 95, of Star, NC, died Saturday, January 12, 2013, at his home in Star, NC.

William was born in Moore County to William and Hazel Zurkel Smith. He was a mechanic in the construction business and served in the Army Air Force, during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marietta Wright Smith and grandson, Kevin Smith.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Spencer, of Tallahassee, FL; sons, Bernard Smith, of Bessemer City, NC, Ronald Smith, of Port Saint Lucie, FL, James Smith, of Bessemer City, NC, Gary Smith, of Swansboro, NC and Gordon Smith, of Asheboro, NC; brothers, Herbert Smith, of Michigan, Kenneth Smith, of Wisconsin; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is scheduled for a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star, NC.
