Star - Rev. James W. Hamilton, 83, of 214 Harper Street, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Ether UMC with the Rev. Kay Boone, Rev. Patricia Sykes, and Rev. Jerry Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. Rev. Hamilton was born in Montgomery County to Iron Lee and Fuschia Saunders Hamilton. He was a retired minister in the NC Conference of UMC where he served churches in Norman, Pinebluff, Eastover in Fayetteville, Ebenezer in Raleigh, Star, Biscoe - Page, Bascom, and Ether UMC. He was a member of Biscoe Masonic Lodge # 437 A.F. & A.M. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jordan Hamilton, of the home; daughter, Sally Williams (Steve), of Randleman; sons, Bill Hamilton (Beth), Ocean View, Delaware, Don Hamilton (Connie), of Lynchburg, Virginia, Joseph Hamilton (Penny), of Star; sisters, Jane Monroe, of Tallahassee, Florida, Irene Trexler, of Lexington, Sara Haruyama, of Oakland, California; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Friday, May 4, 2012, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. Memorials may be made to Ether UMC, PO Box 156, Ether, NC 27247.
