Seagrove - Effie Frances Hancock Cagle, 96, of Steeds Community died Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Autumn Care of Biscoe. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, September 14, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hubert McLeod officiating. Interment will follow in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Cagle was born in Moore County to Frank Hancock and Etta Page Hancock. She retired from Clayson Knitting Company in Star. She was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church and a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to garden, read the Bible, talk on the phone to friends and family, and knit. Mrs. Cagle was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Cagle; her brothers, Barney and Carl; her sisters, Ethel, Onie, Rosie, and Annie; and daughter-in-law, Carol Cagle. Surviving are her sons, Max Cagle (Shurby) and Jerry Cagle both of Steeds Community; sister, May Hancock Cagle of Seagrove; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 pm-1:45 pm at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, 445 Mt. Zion Church Road, Seagrove, NC 27341. The family wishes to thank the staff of Autumn Care. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, September 14, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hubert McLeod officiating. Interment will follow in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
