Jasper Lee Hursey

Jasper Lee Hursey, 77, of Ether, NC died Friday, October 23, 2015 at FirstHealth Hospice House. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 27, at Star United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kay Boone officiating. Interment with military rites by the Randolph Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Hursey was born in Montgomery County to Robert and Mecie Bennett Hursey. He served four years in the US Navy aboard the USS Randolph followed by many years in the Naval Reserve. He was retired from General Telephone Company of Tampa, Florida after thirty-five years of employment. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hursey was predeceased by brothers, Roy and Harvey. Surviving are his wife, Dianne Phillips Hursey of the home; sons, Michael Hursey (Christean) of Tampa, FL, Robert "Bobby" Hursey of Tampa, FL; grandsons, Chris, Matthew, Nick, Aiden, and Lucas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, October 26, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
