Lonnie Colon Wilkes

Carthage - Lonnie Colon Wilkes, Sr., 76, died Thursday, March 17, 2016, at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Leach Road Holiness Church, where he was a dedicated church member, with the Rev. Hubert McLeod and Pastor Matt Eugene Ussery officiating. Interment will be in Brown's Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.

Mr. Wilkes was born in Montgomery County to Marvin Thomas and Margaret Odessa Sanders Wilkes. He was a retired fixer at JP Stevens.

He is survived by his wife, Evon Hogan Wilkes, of the home; two sons, Lonnie Wilkes, Jr. and Jeffery Wilkes, both of Carthage; one daughter, Leta Nunnery, of Carthage; one step-son, Jerry McIntosh, of Salisbury; one brother, Leonard Wilkes, of Carthage; 4 grand-children; 2 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, March 18, 2016, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
