Arlene Bennett Freeman

Wilmington - Arlene Bennett Freeman, age 87, formerly of Star, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Azalea Health & Rehab in Wilmington.

Mrs. Freeman was born in Montgomery County to William Jonah and Phoebie Mae (Covington) Bennett. She was a retired hosiery mill employee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn B. Freeman, and her siblings.

She is survived by one daughter, Ila Strickland (Rev. John) of Wilmington; two granddaughters, Heather Brake (Jason) of College Station, Texas and Dana Sweet of Holly Ridge; three great-granddaughters, Kayla Brake, Sarah Brake, and Lillian Sweet.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, June 3, 2017, from 10:00 - 10:45 am at Phillips Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 216 South Main Street, Star with Rev. Billy Roy officiating. Interment will follow in Forks of Little River Church Cemetery.
